Lost tag (country) after upgrading to MC19
« on: December 26, 2013, 08:19:23 am »

Folks
I have spent some time tagging all my flac music files with Country. apx 35000 files. This was done in MC 17.
I am currently upgrading to MC 19 and have created a new library based on the same (flac) files.
However I cannot see any of the files having the country tag populated in the MC19 library... all gone !
I thought that the extra tagging info was stamped/recorded in the metadata on the file. ??

Does anyone have any idea on how to fix this problem ?

Thanks for any help.

I don't think certain fields are written to files by default.
There are probably a few ways of solving this, but is there a reason you aren't importing the MC17 library?

That was bad news...
To your suggestion: Not sure how to use/import the v 17 library.
Is that a backup/restore library exercise (using library manager) ?

Alternatively i came to think of copying the Country field to a field which WILL be updated on the file itself.
When trying this I could not find a tag in  MC which would map to a field found using Windows explorer.
E.g.: copy Country in MC to Description (in MC). I would expect it to see the update in the tag "Description" in Windows explorer. However nothing is updated.

Is there a mapping list between the tags in MC and the tags in Windows ?

/thanks
