As we all know there is no provision for parental or user control in DLNA/Upnp Protocol.
I have a workaround suggestion for JRiver development Team for this.
As MC19 has implemented with User Account Option, there would be one more option for user pin (numeric only)along with password.
There should an extra option along with audio, video and images, Named "login"
Without Login only those file will be listed with no username associated in mc library
When a user opt for Login
JRiver Server need to send Virtual Folders
naming from "0-9" & "ok" folder i.e. listing ,0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,ok
Selecting a number folder will result in opting for 1 digit of the user pin and showing the same list along with 1 file with filename showing the digit selected previously.
Selecting ok will acknowledge pin building by selecting the digit has been completed and user can be authenticated based on user pin.
Every DLNA Session must be tracked for client activity timeout for re authentication on common devices like smart tv in case of long paused video or folder listing in-activity.
Reason for numeric only pin is that folder listing of 26alpha+10numeric+symbols will be huge and cumbersome work in building a pin for authentication. 10 folder listing and selection would be fast.
There must be provision to turn on and off this feature.
Since Folder and file listing is available on all dlna devices and mc19 has implemented user restriction . This might be possible.
It would be a great feature for us.
