MC19 upgrade DLNA server no longer functioning
« on: December 24, 2013, 02:07:56 am »

My setup is a separate server with my library and MC installed. It drives 5 zones through a series of sound cards. I have recently started to build a home automation system using homeseer 2 installed on a separate PC. Homeseer has a dlna plug in that allows it to interface with dlna devices. It is able to see and control the playing status of each zone in the server as separate dlna renderers. It can also act as a control point to send playlists from the server to any renderer.

So far I'm quite pleased with myself, for example, I have been able to get it turn the lights on and stream radio to the bathroom when it senses movement in the bathroom early in the morning on a weekday.

This week I upgraded from MC18 to 19 and homeseer is now not able to extract the capabilities and content from the dlna server, so my system can't get anything to play on MC. My automated music aspirations are temporarily on hold.

I had a few other hiccups that might (or might not) be related.

It took a few attempts to get my zones working after the upgrade, they work now but I didn't fix them myself.
Gizmo can control the zones, but no longer controls the volume.

Having a lot more confidence in jrivers capability than my own, I guess that I have done something wrong, but I can't figure it out.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe DLNA isn't active in your MC19 server?  Turn on Media Network in options.

Thanks Jim,

"Use media Network to share this library and enable DLNA" is ticked.

I assume that means the DLNA is on.

Turn it off in MC18 or uninstall MC18.

Check your firewall settings.  It could have allowed MC18 but not be allowing MC19.

Check with Homeseer.

I have uninstalled MC18 and have checked that MC19 does have access through the firewall.

I have contacted the homeseer plug in programmer and he reports is works fine with MC19. So I think I'll rollback the machine and try the whole upgrade a second time.
