Remote Library Authentication
« on: December 20, 2013, 12:37:15 pm »

I recently upgraded my server running MC19 v19.0.96 to new hardware running Windows 7 SP1.  I have a main library on this server which is used by several other client machines.  I want to be able to update the main library from the clients, so I tried setting an account and password for authentication under Media Network.  Now when my clients connect, they are challenged for a password referencing the library server http port (in my case 192.168.1.119:52199), but I cannot authenticate using the account I set up on the server.  The only way I can connect from my clients is to disable authentication on the server, and of course I cannot sync the libraries.

This functionality was working on my old server, running Windows 7 and MC18.  The clients have not changed.

Any help with this issue would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Sean

One thing to be aware of, just to make sure...

MC19 can only connect to servers running MC19.  You can't connect from MC18 clients to MC19 servers (or the reverse).

Otherwise, I'm not seeing any issues with authentication here.

Thanks for the reply.  Yes, all clients are on the same version of MC.  One question; is the authentication account supposed to be a Windows account?  That is what I have assumed, but maybe it is an account within MC.  I did read a post here that suggested the later.

Thanks,
Sean

Just a username and password you define in MC's options, under Media Network.

Nothing to do with Windows Authentication.
