Hi All,

I bought my wife Dispicable Me 2.  Now my normal plan of action is to take the movies I buy and rip them with any dvd HD to an ISO and then simply play the iso with JRiver.  Works perfectly.

If I do this same method of removing the encryption, creating the ISO, can I then burn this to a blank BLU-RAY disc and play it with JRiver using the Blu-Ray drive in my computer?

Wanted to ask before I spend any money on those blank discs.  Looking at my options even though it appears hard drive space is cheaper per GB.

It will probably work, but I'm not sure I understand why you would do that?
 
If you use the original disc, AnyDVD HD removes the encryption anyway, so you can still play directly off the disc.
If you play the ISO file (with Virtual CloneDrive) it should also work just as well.
 
There's no reason to create a second copy of the disc without the encryption.

Hmm.  For some reason I thought I absolutely had to rip my Blu-Rays to play them (obviously because of the protection).  I will try tonight to load that Blu-Ray with AnyDVD already running and see if JRiver will just play it natively without having to import it at all.

That would be a nice bonus for me that I didn't realize it could do.  Assuming we are in fact talking about the same thing.

You can play straight off the original disc as long as you have AnyDVD HD running.
It's not required to rip them first.
 
 
People generally rip them because they want the convenience of being able to simply select a film from within Media Center's library and have it play.
 
I do this so that I don't have shelves full of discs on display, for example.

Honestly, the main reason I am doing this (since I forgot to answer) was because my wife doesn't quite get all of our techy stuff and I am trying to make it as simple as possible for her.  Put in the disc, hit play and done.  Massive home theater and no difficulty running it.

Go to Tools > Options > CD, DVD, & BD > Autoplay and set Blu-ray to Play. Put in the disc and done. No hitting Play. 

There are two times that more intervention is needed. First, some Blu-rays play the wrong title. Pixar movies always play the Spanish title first for me. Second, some movies need an English subtitle track selected because the forced subtitles aren't always included in the main feature. These don't happen too often for me. I think the last one was Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol.

Just reporting back that in fact it does work great!  Watched 2 flawless Blu-Ray movies with this method!
