How to record a certin time frame for a channel.

How do you simply tell the program to record channel X from time X to X? Pretty much like how old VCR's were.

Firstly, I'd suggest for future that you post TV question over here:
TV Cards and TV
You'll get better visibility of the issue and you're more likely to attract the right attention.

Often with fundamental questions like this, the answer is laid out pretty clearly in the Wiki and all that's required is a simple "Read the Manual" response. Not so in this case. Congratulations, you've revealed that the Wiki is well out of date:

The above talks about MC11 and accessing Media Scheduler.

However, Media Scheduler info is provided here and it works internally within MC:
http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Media_Scheduler
http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Start_Media_Scheduler
http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Scheduler_Tasks

I just use the EPG, so I'd be plodding through the info noted above to work out the relevant steps. I'll leave it to those with more ready knowledge to help you further if you still get stuck.

I just use the EPG.

My problem is that just this week one channel does not show correct information. This week is the PA farm show and the channel guide shows what would normally play. Im pretty sure this is just an error with whoever programs the guide has the wrong information. This has never happened before and its only wrong this one week. To make it worse, the program guide has new programs starting listed every 2-3 hours. My work around for it is to just pick one, and set the pre-record time so much earlier and the record-after time as I want.

I couldn't get a regular "record this at this time on this channel" to work with jriver (I have the latest version). If im missing it, let me know. If not, this is a must have feature for next release. Who wants to screw around with a program guide when you know you want to record this time frame this channel.

When there are programs associated with a chosen channel, we offer to record or subscribe to the program only.  If there is no program associated with a channel, we offer record-by-time option.
