1. Changed: Removed system requirement for libcrypto++ and libboost-regex.

19.0.103 (1/9/2014)

1. NEW: Implemented libboost for regular expressions to match the windows and mac versions.
2. Changed: More dependencies tuning.

19.0.102 (1/3/2014)

1. Changed: Bumped timeout to February 9th 2014
2. Changed: Package no longer depends on the various linux audio encoders to install, they are recommended but not required leaving it up to the user to install. These are Lame, Vorbis-tools, Musepack-tools. They can be 32 or 64 bit.

1. Fixed: Bug introduced from the column header crash fix.

1. New: Added Musepack (mpc) encoder (requires system musepack-tools, amd64 or i386).

1. Faster: Unlocked SSE acceleration in image / drawing engine providing faster performance, and better looking rendering.

2. Changed: Program binary name is now mediacenter19 to allow side-by-side versions to run properly.
3. Changed: Updated debian build package to be more to spec. To replace the current version first remove the existing version (will not affect library or settings). Do this by: sudo dpkg -r mediacenter. Then install the new build. For non-debian systems, remove /usr/bin/mediacenter.

19.0.61 (10/24/2013)

1. Fixed: Pause now works with ALSA playback.
2. Fixed: Dragging the main window to position it was not working nicely.
3. Fixed: Menu tracking and keyboard navigation was not working properly.
4. NEW: Added desktop files and icon.

There are a couple of reasons behind the changes in this build.

1) Depending on libcrypto++ supplied by the distro, we would break on 64 bit distros that needed libcrypto++:amd64 since this is one of those rare packages where both the i386 and amd64 versions can't coexist (poor coding I presume).
2) The boost libraries are versioned and so users that were hacking on to non-debian distros by linking to different libboost_regex shared libraries were in danger of crashes.

Does this mean that the libs are actually no longer needed for operation or just that the dependencies were removed?

Edit:  Ah, I see that they're pre-packaged in the deb now.

Yes, they are in the deb built as part of the project with no dependencies that weren't already required by the rest of the package.
