Can J River play DVD-Audio?
« on: January 18, 2014, 05:38:38 pm »

Very simple question but I am not sure the answer will be that simple...
DVD-Audio with AOB files, like Porcupine Tree DVD-Audio files. Can we play them in JRiver?
I giees I can convert them to FLAC by doing research...

From memory they play fine and you can also convert the content to "Audio" only file formats including FLAC.

How?   And, is the resolution unchanged?

I use DVD Audio Extractor (http://www.dvdae.com/dvdae/) & then converting to FLAC.  It works well with the few multi-channel DVD-A disks I have

It's been years since I converted some.... Most had a DVD compatible audio tracks that will play but let me refresh my memory on how to extract the encrypted MLP track.  I may have been DVD Audio Extractor that stevemac posted a link for.

Yup - the other posts are right, if you want to pull out the MLP tracks from the AOB files you need a prog like DVD Audio Extractor.

You can also use the free DVD-Audio Explorer to rip DVD-Audio files to FLAC, but it takes a little work to setup if I remember correctly.
