Windows XP Home crashes
« on: February 25, 2002, 10:37:02 am »

Probably not a M JB problem, but I'm desparate.  Whenever I copy from a CD to computer file using M JB (or Windows Media), computer crashes after three or four tracks have been successfully recorded.  XP is pretty good about booting after crashes, but it has completely locked up after these.  I got an IRQL message; can't find any resource problems when I look.  Also notice an IMPAI notation in the system log.  Any suggestions welcome.

You can try this Paste and copy www.adaptec.com/support/files/upgrades.html   Run the aspichk.exe diagnostic check and it will tell you if you have a  bad aspi (wnaspi32.dll) layer? If you do you can d\l a new one from their site.

I am having the exact same problem (system totally freezes after burning a few albums).  Then I went to adaptec's site and downloaded their aspi layer and now I get a blue screen of death! On XP Pro!!

Bad mojo.

Any other ideas out there?

In CD writer settings, try selecting the "generic driver".

This is too late for Ian, but suggest you not download the wnaspi32.dll  I was about to when I noticed at the bottom of the page that it's explicity NOT for XP.

MHorton is one of "the beautiful people".  Both of him.

Still, the forum is gender-tilted.

Probably tilted in some other directions, too, but that's a big subject.
