How to manage a very large music collection
« on: January 20, 2014, 09:54:18 am »

I have just recently downloaded the trial version to see if this would work to manage my music library of around 350gigs.  The issue that I am having is that a large amount of my music are live shows that do not have any metadata/tags on them.  When I add them they get put into an unknown folder.  I want to know if there is a way to set up the import so it keeps everything in the same folder structure I have in windows regardless of the tags it finds or does not find.

Any help on this would be great.

Create a new view based on File Path.  See:

What type of live shows are these - do they have metadata in sidecar files?

Thanks for the reply MrC.

I have metadata for most files I have but there is a portion without any.  I started this collection about ten years ago so I've just used file structure to keep it in check since then. Every program I have tried to import my library to just puts it all over the place and it turns into a mess.   Ill try the info you shared and see if it works for me.

Thanks again

Great.

See if the tool Library Tools > Fill Properties From Filename helps also.
