Need view to display listening stats - help please
« on: January 24, 2014, 11:14:10 am »

Hello Folks, I want a view to display my listening habits.
Not the number of times I have listened and when.
I need a view to see how much I listen to one Genre as against another.
Some genres have a few thousand tracks whereas other genres have but a few hundred.
I am looking for percentages to give me an idea of the proportion of one particular genre I listen to over another.
Any ideas please.
thanks,

What is the math you want?  Total track listens per genre vs. total track listens (to produce a per-genre ratio)?  Or... ?

The first one is easy in a Categories view.  Just add to the Thumbnail Text the field [Number Plays].

The second one will require using a technique like described here:

Are you OK with that?

Sorry. No. That's over my head. I am no coder.

I am looking for a view to show percentages that give me the proportion of one particular genre I listen to over another.

Plus I need to understand this more:
in a Categories view.  Just add to the Thumbnail Text the field [Number Plays].

You may want want to look at using the new Chart view.

Create a view for Genre then in Customize View -> View As -> Chart.   In Customize View Settings -> Chart -> Metric -> Plays.

It will give you a pie chart with a percentage legend on the right.

thanks,

You can customize the text below the Thumbnails in any view.  Click on the little down arrow on the tab -> Thumbnails -> Thumbnail Text.  In the Expression Editor you can enter tag fields or expressions to have that text displayed below the thumbnail.  More:  http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=82843.0

Yup, the chart view is a good way to go.  See if it works for you.
