Choose audio track and subtitle in media networks
« on: January 25, 2014, 11:13:36 am »

For movies with multiple audio tracks, is there any way to choose which audio track to play? DLNA and Gizmo always chooses either the first or the forced audio track and I haven't found any way to switch.

And what about subtitle language? And subs on/off?

Its not currently supported.
You can play the file once in MC proper and switch the tracks, Gizmo and DLNA should then honor this choice.

While we could add such an option to Gizmo, to select the track manually, I'm not experienced enough with DLNA yet to say if the protocol supports such choices.

Wow, you answered while I was editing the original post  :o

Could you please explain a bit more what you mean by play once in MC proper? You mean play part of the movie, and then choose language, then stop MC playback, and then play in Gizmo?

Yes, MC remembers your stream choices, and Gizmo should honor these choices.

Ah, that is a good workaround, at least when the MC is in the house. I'll try and report back.

A bit more cumbersome when away. Teamviewer or other remote solutions may do the trick then.

It actually does work. Set the audio track and subtitle language (or off) in MC at the computer running the media server is actually honored on the Gizmo network client. Didn't try DLNA yet.

Apologies for bumping an old topic but my heart felt heavy after I saw a post from 2013 that Gizmo didn't allow for subtitle or audio track changing.

However, after reading this I had some new focus.  Tried it on a movie for a familar member and it did indeed remember the setting.

That said, I have a TV Series (House of Cards) that I'd like to share with some family.  The one I have has subtitles and I don't want ot view each one.

Anyways, if you edit the tag info, there is a field called "Playback Info" that looks something like
(1:1)(7:Streams)(5:0,1,4)

I tested by changing the subtiles and the 4 became a 3.  Knowing that each of clips in this series are all the same. I changed them all and they were all changed in Gizmo.

Seems to work well.

That said, this needs to be updated
