Opinions on letting htpc sleep
« on: January 25, 2014, 07:56:16 pm »

Just wanted to get some thoughts in letting your htpc sleep when not in use. If you do let it sleep what settings and tools work best for this? I've read that windows will wake up automatically and do scheduled recordings. That's cool and all but doing a little reading on the interwebz it seems pretty split. A lot of folks have gotten sleep to work perfectly and others encountered nothing but problems and ended up running 24/7. Power consumption is not really an issue for me. Wear and tear.....maybe.....but the old argument about whether it's better to leave hard drives spinning or power down when not in use is still alive and well.

Sleep works fine for me with Win7.

MC will wake up to record if you run Media Server on Windows startup.  It's an option in MC.
