Maybe off topic - loads of cds to rip
« on: February 24, 2003, 04:25:53 am »

I'm not sure if this is the best place to ask this but I need a way of converting my music library of about 2000 cds into MP3s.  Does anyone know of some sort of cd autochanger that I could buy which would perhaps  interface with Media Jukebox and automatically rip multiple disks without needing human intervention?  Will Media Jukebox automatically rip from multiple cd drives if I have, say, 6 ide cd roms connected to a pc?

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

I had A 18 disk jukebox once, it was supported in windows 95, but not since

it worked well, each disk seen as a drive

it was abit over $2,000 i put it in the trash in 2001 since it was no longer supported.

Thanks for the ideas.  How many cd roms will Media Jukebox rip from?  If I built a system with, say, 8 cd rom drives on a couple of pci-ide interface cards would it rip from the 8 drives in turn?  What is the max number of cd drives it supports? Does anyone know?

There are a host of "CD Server" options available which mount a CD or DVD drive and make it available to the OS.  I've had my lustful eye on a 200 DVD networked read write drive from Powerfile, but they're a bit over the top.  The jukebox/software should allow you to work your way through several disks in succession, though I'm not sure how you script Media Jukebox to record each as it becomes available.  Something to think about.
