Do I need a Quad-Core i5 ?
« on: February 08, 2014, 11:31:01 am »

I am going to bite the bullet and upgrade my HTPC Laptop after several performance issues mentioned previous in these forums

On looking on the MC system requirement page  http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Installation_%26_Removal#System_Requirements

The Recommended System req are: "an Intel Core i5 (Quad-Core) or better"

This is a difficult CPU to find (but there is One) so being on a budget I have purchased this system detailed below instead, the rest of the system specs are ok I believe

So I was thinking is the Quad-Core a "typo" and should it read Dual-Core ?

Cheers Steve

MC runs noticeably better on a Quad-Core.  I assume the reference to the i5 Quad-Core in recommended systems refers to a Desktop Processor.  Typically (although with some exceptions), Intel releases i3's with Dual-Cores and i5's and i7's with Quad-Cores in the Desktop space. In the Mobile market, Quad-Cores are typically (again, with some exceptions) reserved for only the i7 branding.
