How do I send a MP3 version of a WAV file?
« on: February 08, 2014, 02:11:32 pm »

My wife uses iTunes and I have a 96/24 WAV file I would like to share with her. How do I go about sending it to her home networked computer in a format that iTunes will play?

From your Q, I take it you want to make an MP3 Copy?  If so,
- right click on the file --> Library Tools --> Convert Format then
- set the encoder to MP3, and change the Encoder Setting ("..." Button) to what you want,
- check the "Options", you may want the file saved in a particular directory, and "Leave original file; do not add destination file to library".  You could also apply DSP options if needed

Thanks

So what if I have a 24/96 WAV file and I want to share it with my wife but she wants CD quality not MP3? She has an iPhone that won't play WAV or 24/96 so I would like to convert to FLAC 16/44.1 BTW she doesn't want to use any new music apps she has iPhone music and JRiver.

Same procedure as above except you choose FLAC for the output format.

iPhone doesn't support FLAC without an aftermarket app and if I choose WAV I don't see anyway to change the bitrate or sample rate as the iPhone only supports up to 16/44.1 In the meantime I can use Adobe Audition to do the encoding so no big deal I was just curious if I was missing something in JRiver.

If you want lossless audio on the iPhone then use ALAC.
