Fave standalone 'droid players?
« on: February 10, 2014, 12:29:45 am »

What are peoples fave standalone music players for local (on the device) content?

I've been using Poweramp forever but I'm just wondering what other people are using?

I use Poweramp as well but would happily change to an MC product if it was on offer.

Poweramp here.
I wanted to try the Google Play Music player, but it has a showstopping bug that keeps me from using it.
I have playlist sorted by artist/album/track#
Open that playlist in google play music and it mangles the order.
All other players show in the correct order.

I Like Jet Audio.
I switched between Jet Audio and Poweramp for quite a while before settling on Jet Audio.
Neutron is gaining popularity lately. It seams people connecting their DACs to Android like it.

Whenever I am home or have WIFI I immediately switch to Gizmo.

I use mediamonkey on my Mobile, but I would be happy to see gizmo as offline player just to get a complete JR solution...

Jetaudio for me.
Some say neutron player is the best audiophile grade player but jetaudio sounds nicer to me.

I'm in the rooted minority but using legendary HTC audio mod by XDA dev ZeroInfinity brings any player to Neutron caliber quality using hw and low level ALSA tweaks. that said I use bubble upnp to remote connect to MC server for lossless FLAC playback. Though if gizmo ever allowed FLAC streaming ... :)

Anyone rooted on HTC One I'd be more than happy to help trying out said mods !

Neutron is the best sounding player on my Samsung S4 with Sennheiser HD 590. No portable AMP. The GUI interface is not as polished as others but it is good enough for me. Poweramp is the worst sounding. The others are midway between Poweramp and Neutron. The list of others I have tested are GoneMAD, Jetaudio, N7Player, PlayerPro, USB Audio Player Pro.
