Unable to burn a clean CD
« on: March 04, 2014, 03:19:00 pm »

When I first tried to burn a CD the total time required multiple CDs. The effort failed - JRiver burned the first of the 2 CDs with problems.

So I tried to just burn a set of tracks that cover roughly 60 minutes and so would fit on a single CD easily. This effort resulted in a CD with problems. Rather than end a track cleanly it is cutting off the end of a track, immediately starting the next as if it is part of the same track, and then continuing the second musical piece into the actual next track.

Is there anyone out there who can give me some assistance as I was counting on being able to do what I thought would be a simple task.

I am using version 19.0.117

It should be simple.  Is there any other software interfering?  Even something like antivirus software.

JimH - I stopped any virus software. Nothing else was running on the machine. It failed in the same way.

When I first started the burn there was an error message. After I clicked OK (the only choice) on the error message the software went on and did the burn anyway.

The error was:
JRiver PLAYER CORE HAS OVERFLOWED DURING FORMAT CONVERSION. 5017 CONVERTED BLOCKS BUT ONLY ROOM FOR 4967 BLOCKS
48000 TO 44100 hZ with 0.0 ms latency.

NOTIFY JRiver OF THIS ERROR AS SOON AS YOU ARE ABLE....

I too thought this process would be simple but it certainly has not been. Can you assist in helping me figure out how to burn 1 (and  2) music CDs? This is a bit frustrating.

Thanks.

Try burning with other software,  just as a test.

What format are the files you are burning to CD?  I can run a test with the same format here and see what I get.  I just ran a test with the current build and it worked fine with some mp3 and m4a files.

When you burned the CD, did you click the options button and enable any options under "Audio Burning", like cross-fade, omit leading/trailing, DSP studio, etc.?

I was able to burn with a different software with no problem at all.

The formats for the files are wav.

Maybe the first question is: what is the meaning of the error message I get when I first start the burn!

Not sure how to proceed just now...

The formats for the files are wav.
Are you burning an audio CD or a data CD?

That error should never occur, I've never seen it before.  It indicates a problem in converting the format in preparation for writing to an audio CD.  Do these files play OK in Media Center?  Could you try burning just one file as a test?  If one fails, maybe you could send it to us via Dropbox or something?

When you burned the CD, did you click the options button and enable any options under "Audio Burning", like cross-fade, omit leading/trailing, DSP studio, etc.?

I searched the forum for that error message and found this post from last October:
