Bluetooth headphones - connection loss

I've bought some bluetooth headphones.  They work great with MC until I go out of range of the device.
After coming back into range most audio applications seem to continue working with them.
However MC stops playing the track but can be prompted to start playing again in direct sound mode.
It would be nice if it just kept playing.  In WSAPI mode MC refuses to start playing again full stop.
