Perhaps you meant to say "Make sure the Series name is in the Series tag, then add the Season and Episode tags"
If you want all the additional TV program data, you need to make sure that the Season and Episode numbers exist and are correct, in addition to the Series name. Otherwise when you right click on a file or group of files and select "Get Movie & TV Info", you will get the attached response. The Season and Episode numbers are not created by MC when recording TV, at least not for me in Australia with our EPG data.
Also check the Media Sub-type is "TV Show", which it should be for recordings done by MC.
Personally I don't worry about the Season or Episodes numbers too much for recorded TV, as a description of the program and other basic data IS provided by the EPG. In order to add the Season or Episodes numbers I would have to look up what they are online before I could enter them.
Also, rather than use the Action Window and add the data one recording at a time, I tend to look at the TV recording files under "Video/Files/[your directory name]/All Locations" and sort the files by Series/Season/Episode/Name then select a range of files and update the fields I want to in bulk, or one at a time. You can do this by right clicking on one of the files in the appropriate column and selecting "Rename", then entering the value you want to use. That will update the selected column for all selected files. For example, select all files from a series and bulk add "1" into the season field, if you know that they are all from season one.
I just find it easier and more visual to edit metadata that way.
