Word 'artist' stuck as default search on Links
« on: March 19, 2014, 10:19:19 am »

When I click on the YouTube link, the YT page shows up, the word 'artist' is filled in YT search and 'artist' results are already there. Similarly, clicking on Wiki I instanly get the Artist Wikipedia entry. Same with the rest of the links (Google, Amazon etc).

How can I clear this up? Thanks... did a bit of searching but couldn't find anything.

when you rightclick on the links, you can choose manage links and change them...

im not sure what you mean by clearing up. bringing you to the artist is the idea of those links.

you can also disable the links by going into options>general>features> disable links bar.

Thanks gappie. Figured it out: I didn't realize MC does an 'artist' search based on the artist tag of the currently selected track. When my audio view starts up, it always defaults on a track that has "artist" as its artist tag causing the confusion. Wonder if there's a way to select which track/album it defaults on at startup.

Tried "Manage links..." before posting, now tried a bit more and found a way to prevent MC from searching anything and give a "clear" (blank) YouTube, Google etc. search page.

Thanks Mrc, very nice read. Wish we had a single, searchable help file (offline, too) that gathered all this information together... Also, a "Help" button inside "Manage Links..." pointing here or directly to the article would be helpful.

We got a Help button linking the wiki expression language page in expression editors.  So there's hope that a Links help button will arrive some day.
