Thanks again for the enhancement, but one more request. For compilation discs only, if and only if the track artist info for display name is blank, please look at the notes field under track info and if there is a note, use it for the artist name.  I bet you will find that will yield an improvement.

I would guess that the reason for this is that originally cddb1 did not have the track display name filed and many early submitors put the name in the notes field.

You can verify this by testing a dozen or so old compilation disks and looking at the track info under mj 8.  Even when the display name is blank, more times than not, the name appears in the notes field.
