Streaming Music Service Integration?
« on: March 26, 2014, 11:50:18 pm »

I saw some pre-19 posts on this but was wondering where things stand now. I enjoy using Google Music and Pandora and would like to do so within the JRiver Theater View experience so my wife/kid can easily access it too. Do I just need to give up on this dream?

Unfortunately most of these services are closed platforms and they do not provide an API for other applications to interface with them.

Yeah... was wondering if some kinda of greasemonkey-style integration might work to drive the UI so even if it's does not have the same look&feel, I could at least "punch through" the UI via a browser pane. Has anyone toyed with that?

I keep wondering if i should try to setup a emulator for android and run those apps to these services.
But i never have time.

http://developer.android.com/tools/devices/emulator.html

"The Android emulator supports many hardware features likely to be found on mobile devices, including:
A sound chip with output and input capabilities"

You can add a web page to Theater View.  It's in the customization section for Theater View, in MC's options.

Yes you can.
The problem is controlling the webpage
And they  usually don't look as good.

When using Digitally Imported with MC19 and Internet Explorer Web Engine, the results are visually poor, and the channel plays from the web engine and not MC19 player, which makes it pointless.

Yeah... half the rational would be to pipe it through MC. I seem to ercall reading that you could do tricks with piping the browser's output to a virtual soundcard and using some "loopback" mechanism supported by MC
