HDMI out, not every pc has one?
« on: April 03, 2014, 01:13:33 pm »

I use a lap top at present with a HDMI output connected to my TV. I'm looking for a cheap desktop PC to run JR instead but I'm having trouble finding one with a HDMI port.
On the back of my telly I have an RGB/PC , Y Pb/Cb Pr/Cr , and a standard yellow video input as well as scart and HDMI inputs.
Are any of those suitable for Hi Def video equivelant to a HDMI connection?

Many systems can also use DVI with a HDMI adapter to connect to your TV. However, on older systems this may disable HDMI audio - but that would only be a problem if you rely on audio over HDMI.

Good point. One possibility is to use S/PDIF (typically optical out is available on a fair few motherboards) in parallel with DVI-->HDMI to address digital audio.

Your component (Y Pb/Cb Pr/Cr) connection will be just fine.
