tuner card advice
« on: April 07, 2014, 01:09:54 pm »

I have been using a Hauppage 2250 card for a couple years and it is not working reliably anymore. I am looking for a dual tuner solution for OTA recording. So far the best options look like either a new 2250 card or a homerun. The fact that I have my Hauppage card is dying leaves me thinking I should try something else. Any other options I'm missing?

I like the HomerunHD.  I have two of them on my network.  I like them because they do not take up slots in your computer and they are easy to configure/ install.  I bought the first one a couple years ago and it is going strong.  I think the newer version supports DLNA, but I am not sure.  You may still be able to get the HD3 version for a decent price on ebay.

I hope this helps,

Alex

Agree with eapool. I've got 2 as well. Networking the TV signal is a smart way to operate.

I've seen other network tuners but HDHR has a long / strong track record, substantial user base, useful forum and a reasonably responsive support process.

I work FTA terrestrial only. Can't comment when it comes to cable or satellite.
