Audio encoding to LPCM
« on: May 12, 2014, 04:50:27 pm »

Can MC encode audio to multichannel LPCM when using Videoclock instead of encoding to DolbyDigital?

Media Center outputs PCM by default.
Disable dolby encoding to use it.

But then there's only 2.0 sound. I need multichannel.

Are you outputting to HDMI? Or streaming via UPnP / DLNA?

Yes. By HDMI to my AVR. If I select DSD in "Output Encoding" list instead of Dolby Digital then "Channels" list becomes greyed out and "2 channels stereo" is selected.

Don't use any of the encoding options if you want PCM audio.

I have to because I'm using Videoclock. Normally I'm using reclock but I want to test MC with videoclock to try that it can do better reencoding then reclock. Losseless LPCM would be great because reencoding DTS (99.9% today movies) to old crappy Dolby Digital is a little crime:) But unfortunately I think I have to stay with DD so far:(

Either you are missing something fundamental or I'm missing details.

Why can't you just use multichannel PCM?

Sorry, my fault. Now I see if I don;t set reencoding in Audio\Settings\DSP and Output format... then audio is multichannel on LPCM. Thanks for guide me :)
