Thanks - I deleted my device driver and re-installed this morning. I haven't seen it again - maybe that fixed it.
Quick question that probably isn't important - will setting the AMD HDMI Outp Properties - Advanced tab - to 24 bit 96000 HZ (Studio Quality) make a difference? (It was set at CD quality.) I do have some hi-def music.
Just curious - I changed the setting and didn't see any difference - even with the hi-def recordings. I'm guessing that the setting doesn't impact the connection between JRiver and my receiver. Care to explain it to a newbie?
FYI - have learned a lot these past two weeks. It has been interesting. It all started when my wife suddenly lost all hearing in her left ear. All the mono ear buds I could find were of very poor quality and she loves music. So I found a single in-ear-monitor (with 4 speakers in one ear) used by musicians who prefer to hear output in one ear and the audience with their free ear (venue ambiance).
Great improvement in quality but then she began complaining that she could hear the imperfections in the MP3 rips. So I started re-ripping to flac - which led to me JRiver so I could easily stream the flac to the receiver. (And to our potable Fiio X3 players which do a good job of playing flac).
Which led me to hi-def music and the challenge of understanding sampling, channels, bit depth, etc. - and discerning what is real and what is imagined.
I must say that you audiophiles live in your own world with its own language (and religions)!
Anyway - thanks - given the not-so-good circumstances, it has been an interesting and fun journey.
Just thought you might be interested in some of the unintended consequences . . .
Keep up the good and useful work.
