randomly advancing to next song
« on: February 16, 2015, 08:49:41 pm »

I am connecting JRiver to Oppo BDP-105 over a wireless network. This has worked successfully for a long time. Just recently, songs stop playing and advance to the next song after about 10 seconds. I tried various settings under options > media and networks

Here's a little more info. The problem happens only when I push songs from PC to Oppo. When I pull songs to Oppo from PC, or when I select songs with Gizmo, no problems. Therefore, I have a workaround. But it would be nice to have the option to push the music with the computer.

I had a similar problem (with similar correct behaviour when browsing the library from the player), until I discovered a mysterious "Activate UPnP" setting in my network router itself.

I then activated it.

Since that, all seems to work much better.

The router is an Apple Extereme and the JRiver MC software is residing on a PC. I'm no expert on networking and I don't know what I don't know. Therefore, I tried the easy route first by reinstalling the router software. In the process, the installation software promoted me to select bridge mode, which I did. The problem is fixed.

Thanks to krmasson for bringing up the router.
