I tried the 205 beta (and just now the 206) and I can't use MJ at all anymore?! Isn't MJ supposed to go into freeware mode after 30 days? Now if I close the splash screen, that's it, MJ exits.

MJ is missing a screen, to tell users who have been using the program for more than 30 days, that they need to buy it to use it.

Then why does the splash screen say:

Media Jukebox 8.0 is BOTH FREEWARE and shareware in one package. The baseic version is a great ukebox and WILL WORK INDEFINETLY with now liscense required.

All the previous betas up to 205 worked fine after 30 days in basic mode.

Still got re-enabled for me. WMA encoding bitrate always gets set back to 128k, too (I do 64k WMAs)

Bug:

1. User-defined (custom) visualization files still do not show up on Visualizations right-click menu sub-menus (like the MJ-supplied visualization do).  Visualization Studio can open them and run them no problem.

2. The tab order is wrong on the File Statistics dialog.

MY TRAXDATA CDR4120 I STILL NOT RECOGNISED !!!

Running latest beta, on Win98SE, done the ASPICHK thing, replaced WNASPI, all to no avail.  MJ7 works flawlessly as does every other CD burner I've tried; oh yes, and on my other partition (courtesy of Partition Magic) I have exactly the same result even though this is a totally different installation with different history.

I have an Adaptec 1520 SCSI adapter.

burning speed seems ok now.

when burning a audio cd, reaching the last file, in the middle of burning that file, an error prompt appears, and burning gets stuck.

Error prompt is:
"A device error has occurred. Error number is 1022
Error data is: KEY: 5 ASC: 24 ASCQ: 0"

Digital playback is poppy and scratchy, with periodic speed variations in playback tempo
Analog is fine

<<. Fixed: CD Writer window would display incorrect write speed.>>

Muchas gracias.

However, once the CD is burned, attempting to play it in the G Drive (CD-ROM) results in a crash, with the following error message:

Second time around, I tried to play by r-clicking on the file in Windows Explorer and selecting Media Jukebox. Another crash, this time with an error message referring to kernel 32.dll.

Files play OK in WinAmp.

The CD in question was burned from files that CDDB could not recognize, and I elected not to enter the data.

11. Fixed: Spectrum Analyzer component would not detect track / cover art changes for files with cover art inside.

Still not fixed.

In collage visualizations, the cover_art is not updated when the track changes. If I am in visualization studio and make a change to the current collage visualization the cover updates.

Also in "cover art spectrum" visualization, it is completley blank. The Spectrum Analyzer won't work with an image. If I swith it back to gradient it works, but no cover art.

Has there been a change that causes file properties to take longer to pull up?
Pulling up properties on large amount of files (over 100) takes a very long time to pull up. I almost gave up and then it finally popped up.

I reported this in 205 build.

While ripping an album, I will encounter the message "failed to import" at least on one or more tracks.  This has been happening since the last four versions.

MJ crashes with heap error when I try to change properties for selected file. This is not a special bug to 206, it’s common to all versions of MJ.
To me, it’s related to long filenames. Using short names increased system stability.

I tested it on different systems running w2k pro (SCSI, IDE and IDE-Notebook) and all showed identical behavior.

For more details, I’ve copied the debugger output here. Lines beginning with # are comments, I added.

If you need my test files (24 mp3s), just let me know:

Please Note, I live about 7 hours ahead of you, so it might take a little to respond!

DSP - again - it's not worked for me in any of the v8 builds :-

For Virtual Sub and Surround Field -
1. Select the DSP icon and the menu appears
2. Select Virtual Sub or Surround Field and the drop down appears
3. Make a selection from the drop down and the description DOES change to your selection
4. If DSP was off, the action of step 3 WILL TURN IT ON
So far, no problem....

ForEnvoronment, Intelli-Volume and Replay Gain -
1. Select the DSP icon and the menu appears
2. Select Environment, Intelli-Volume or Replay Gain and the drop down appears
3. Make a selection from the drop down and the description DOES'NT change to your selection
4. If DSP was off, the action from Step 3 WILL NOT TURN IT ON

I missed this in the last bug thread...

>>Download Manager Suggestions:
It looks like you want a full-scale download management program  We will see what we can do regarding your suggestions, among other suggestions requested by others.

It seems that you're using fragment downloads as your default. I found that there is no significant advantage in speed when using fragment downloads so some of the features weren't implemented for it, for now.

At this stage, we’re concentrating on stability issues before the MJ first release. New features will definitely be added after that. Thanks for the suggestions.

(I know this was discussed once before, but just so you all know - I'm just going to keep repeating bugs & requests until they're either fixed (bugs), implemented (requests), or somebody tells me that my requests are denied (or my bugs aren't bugs). I'm not trying to nag or beg or anything, I'm just making sure nothing is forgotten. Next Page)

Track Info : Resizing MJ while viewing Track Info (or resizing the pane divider, or the vis window if viewing in a window) causes all kinds of messy refreshes/flashing.

Auto-Expand Branches : None of their respective toolbar buttons cause the branches to auto-expand the way they do when you click on that branch. This goes for Playing Now, Media Library, Playlists, and Devices.

Request : Thank you for adding Play, Send To, etc. to all of the branches beneath Media Library. Can we also get these for Media Library itself? So the actions will be carried out on everything displaying in Media Library? Also, can we get File Properties on all branches?

Request : Currently, we can't Quick Play a playlist group. We also get messy playlist lists such as "Genre Weighted Playlist\Rock - 60". How about handling playlists and playlist groups the same way that Media Views are handled in Quick Play. A Playlist Group will be have branches for each playlist/smartlist inside of it, and if you double click the playlist group, MJ plays that entire group, just like it would for an album if you double clicked the album name in Quick Play.
This way we can play Playlist Groups from Quick Play and we also get rid of the messy playlist names.

Visualizations : I keep getting crashes when viewing visuals (especially in full screen mode). Sometimes I get an error message that indicated vsc_default.dll is the culprit, other times MJ just quits.

-I just noticed that I have 2 vsc_default.dll's (one left over from before the vis stuff got reworked and moved around). So I'm going to uninstall MJ, clean out all of those directories and then reinstall and try again. I'll get back to you on this one. Is it possible that MJ is still accessing the older version somehow?

-Okay, even after that, MJ still crashes after displaying visualizations for a while.

In the same spirit as Doof's requests (i.e., tell me to stop if this just isn't gonna happen), my only remaining longstanding request for MJ is to be able to do range searches on custom fields.  Alphabetical or numeric, I don't care; I can put leading zeros on my numeric values to make an alphabetical range work.

I want to be able to make a smartlist that says "include tracks where custom1 > 100 and custom1 < 150".  I use custom1 for tempo; I know others use it for stuff like top-40 chart position and this would be useful for them as well.

Rip/encode behavior seems unchanged. Still can't do normalization with simultaneous rip and encode as with 7.2; rip seems to still be rip/encode track by track instead of rip tracks continuously and have encode catch up as it goes.

Running MJ 8.0.206 on Multiple Monitors-- 3 to be exact.
Monitor config is : 3 2 1, where MJ is running on monitor 3. The desktop primary is Monitor 2, so Monitor 3 is "to the left" of monitor 2. This make the screen coords of Monitor 3 negative.

Right clicking on the visualization screen or the play/control buttons causes the pop-up menu
to show up on the "main"/center monitor (The one with screen coord's starting at 0,0 I imagine)

Also, if I switch to "Track Info" mode and right click, the display of MJ locks up and I have to kill the process to close. MJ still plays music while the display is locked.

Will I ever be able to save a file from the editor to LAME mp3!!!!? Can I switch back to version 7.2 until version 8 is no longer dribbleware but a finished product. So far I feel I've lost more than I've gained
