JRiver crashes after I access it through DLNA.  While I'm connected to the DLNA server, everything seems to run fine.  After I disconnect from it, the server crashes.  The problem seems to be JRImage.dll.  Below is a copy of the error in the application log.  Please help!

We have seen several crashes recently that were caused by antivirus programs.  Bitdefender was one.  Disabling wasn't enough to solve the problems.  It required uninstalling.

I think that may have fixed it!!!  Thanks for the quick response.

I hope you're able to work out whatever issues cause JRiver to conflict with anti-virus software... I love the program, but I'd prefer to have anti-virus running on my box if possible.

That isn't our job, but you should report it to your antivirus provider.  What product was it?

It happened with Avast & Microsoft Security Essentials.

Thanks.  Both at the same time?  Or was Avast uninstalled and it still happened?

I had Avast and it happened repeatedly, so I tried uninstalling Avast and installing Microsoft Security Essentials; but it still happened.  Since uninstalling MSE, JRiver seems to be running fine.

It's possible that something else is going on.  You might try running MSE, but not having it check every media file every time you open it.

That seems to work!  I just excluded the folders where the media files are, and so far everything is fine.

I've also found that the DLNA server is unstable after installing Bitdefender antivirus. Uninstalling it fixes the problem. While noting it isn't your problem to fix the antivirus program, can you give pointers on what files/folders/ports I could try to mark as "don't scan" to possibly avoid problems with this (or other) antivirus programs, particularly with the DLNA aspect of the program?

There is no need to scan media files at all.  Check MC's settings for File Locations.
