file types
« on: June 11, 2014, 03:29:39 am »

using MC19. Tryin to change file types so media cetre opens all files on my computer.
Ive changed them all to yes, for mp3's ETC. Yet, when i go back to windows to try and open an mp3, it still shows the itunes icon, and tries to open in itunes. Any reason why this is happening. Is this a bug or am I dumb?

regards,
Dan

You might try an Internet search on "file associations".

Setting them in one program may not be enough.  You may have to also set them in the other (iTunes in this case).  Or even in Windows.

When you set the File Types in MC's Options, it should raise a UAC prompt to approve when you click OK to the Options dialog.  Does it?

If not, are you running as a Limited user in Windows?  If so, you'll probably need to do it from an admin account.  You can also accomplish the same thing by re-installing MC overtop of your existing install, and choosing the Custom option during installation.

In Windows Explorer:

Find an mp3 with the iTunes icon.
Right click on it.
Choose Open With...
Choose MC, or browse for it if it is not on the list of available options.
Check the box saying 'Make this the default program..."
Click OK

All your mp3s with iTunes icons should change to MC icons, and the issue solved, I hope.
