In accordance with recommendations from MrC, I pulled my old router out of the mothballs to test run a dedicated network for use by my Oppo and my computer for dlna.  It worked but the router has whiskers on it is probably not up to the task.  MrC recommended that I get a high-quality wifi router to connect via ethernet to my broadband router.  Any suggestions for a good high quality yet cost effective wifi router?

In the end, you'll find that today's routers are superior to those from years ago.  But also, there are new standards that your hardware may not have, and each router will behave differently in your home, so you may want to purchase from a vendor that will allow you to exchange the hardware should it not perform to your satisfaction.

I like my TP-Links.  Have both a gateway router (tl-r860) and a separate 2.4/5.8 b/g/n hotspot (wa-901nd).

Thanks.  I hadn't heard of them but they appear to have a good price/peformance ratio.  I'll read up on tp-links.
