New guy with Sync problem - FLAC [solved]
« on: June 22, 2014, 03:24:21 pm »

I am sure I am making a basic mistake, so here goes.

J River 19.0.138 (just ran update, and it shows current. but I see there is a 19.0.143 version?)

I am trying to sync a play list to my Samsung Note 2.  I am using Neutron player

If I tell J River to change to format of the music to MP3, it seems to work.

If I tell J River to keep the original format (FLAC and or WMA Lossless) I receive a error of unsupported format.

I know that Neutron supports FLAC, as I can copy the same file I want to sync and it will play.

So what am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

Double-check Options > Handheld > File, Paths, & More > Supported types.  You want to be sure FLAC is in the list.

Thanks, that worked!

Next question

I have a 6 core processor,
under Conversion I have it set for 6 simultaneous conversions

It looks like it only does 1 at a time?

Does JRiver take advantage of all processors that I have?

Set Options > Handheld > Conversion > Simultaneous Conversions

It defaults to 4, I think.

that is exactly what I did.

When you look at what is happening in the detail screen, it only seems that 1 is converting at a time.  where when I use db poweramp, it shows multiple files changing at the same time.

I know different programs will display things differently, so no complaints,   I purchased several months ago, and I am having a steep learning curve, its hard to teach a old dog new tricks!

Thanks for all your help, and a great program!

It's JRiver now, by the way.  It works better with search than J River.  Thanks.

Ok, I changed it from the default of 4 to 6, yet it still looks like only 1 track is being processed at a time, when it is syncing with my Note 2.

In Windows Task Mgr, It only shows activity on 1 cpu out of either 6 or 12, depending on which view I am looking at.

Tonight I will just try converting some random tracks to a file, and see how it behaves.

This is confusing.  I set up a sync to my hard drive and it converts 4 at a time.

It might be something to do with syncing to my phone over a USB cable?  Will know more tonight when I try it again.

did not have a lot of time last night, but I did convert 20 or so tracks from FLAC and or WMA to MP3, and the program acted just like you would expect it to.

In details, it shows up to 6 tracks being converted at the same time.

I will try again to get to syncing my phone tonight and see what happens.
