Mac Version: Questions?
« on: June 25, 2014, 02:16:54 pm »

I have a couple of perhaps dumb questions. Fancy that... :)

(1) The Mac DNLA version doesn't publish video, and seems to give some music renderer's total fits. This is usually shown when one tries to drill down into the Audio folder, only to be presented with another Audio folder, when when drilled down gives test another Audio folder, ad infinitum. Never do get down to the music. Same files on Windows version show up correctly.
  Q. Is this a known problem and will it get fixed?
  Q. Is it possible to serve up video over DLNA from a Mac, and if not, is that on the drawing board?

(2) Is there an advanced audio option on the Mac version to set the filters for DSD playback?

Thanks,
-Paul

You can set DSD to bitstream or to play as PCM.  The filters used internally for conversion are best in class (and not selectable).

Hi Matt-- welcome back.  :)

Someone had mentioned they were selectable in Windows, so I was just curious. It would be kinda nice to be able to pick and choose what filters one wants. Not at all critical though.

They're not select-able on Windows.  There's a right way to convert from DSD and we do it.  There's nothing more to configure.

Do you think JRiver for Mac will ever have convert PCM > DSD128 offline?

It can convert to DSD128 in real-time as you play.

Yes, I use that.   ;D  I was also curious if you would make it so it can convert offline as well.

Why? It would be just a waste of disk space.
LOTS of disk space.
