Why might some conversions from FLAC to MP3 fail?
« on: July 17, 2014, 08:41:09 am »

I am in the process of creating an MP3 version of my audio library, using DSP to reduce the dynamic range (Adaptive Volume in Small Speaker Mode).

Two problems have arisen. Firstly, if I select too many albums for conversion, then MC crashes part way into the job. However, it seems to run without crashing if I only select around 2,000 tracks at a time.

However, I don't have a workaround for the other problem, which is that certain files (and in one case an entire album) always refuse to convert. The status is simply shown as 'Failed'. What might cause such a failure? Are there ways to debug the cause in more detail?

Please send us one of those files and we'll look into it.  Can you send us a Dropbox link?

John,
I have just emailed you a link from Dropbox that will give you access to two of my FLAC files that fail the conversion to MP3. Thanks for your help on this problem.
