The aim of this option is to see if it can fix the trouble some people are having with sample rate / bit depth changes in a playlist.
It should be set to the best available output format for your particular device.
You can find the supported output formats by running
/usr/lib/jriver/Media\ Center\ 19/alsacap
from a terminal prompt.
Those using DoPE likely have to use S32_LE

This is basically a workaround. On most desktops, it seems the resize only works from the top or upper right corner and may have trouble detecting the mouse button release.
On the upside it fixes the moving and resizing of the subwindows and is connected to the fix of the improperly sized box for the DSP studio sample rates...

On KDE 4.13 (openSUSE 13.1 x86-64), the resizing is non-functional.  The MC GUI is locked quite small and cannot be resize, but I can move it around.  Is this expected and since there are more changes to come, should I just wait for the next rev before reporting all of these breakages?

It's good to report.
Have you tried the top, left and top-left corner?
Also, I assume the system resize still works...

When moving the main window, the mouse cursor changes, but neither window frame nor the window itself follows the mouse and it's only when I drag & release the mouse button that the window now appears in the new location.  IOWs, there is no visual cue as to the moving window.

I cannot maximize the main window in a normal fashion, meaning, when double-clicking the top or choosing to maximize, the viewing area of the MC window stays the same size, but the whole screen is then taken up with a black border filling the rest of the screen around the MC window.

Note that you probably can move it. It just doesn't snap to the new location until you release the mouse button.

I've done some further testing in regards to hidden folders. MC does import hidden folders like you mentioned but it doesn't import hidden folders that begin with periods, as you know. It's been discussed in this topic but I was wondering if the warning when trying to import period hidden folders could be added, perhaps during the MC 20 cycle?

Just installed the linux build on Arch and got sound playback successfully (and it sounds great).  In XFCE the window resizing seems to work from any corner, but many windows initially display empty and only fill in when resized (the audio options window initially displays blank and then shows content when resized).  

A little bug, it looks like this build has the same category view sorting bug that 156 for windows had until 158
