Not knowing about the new features ( or if any of it is of any use to me! ) -

however JRiver is trying to pre-sell, based on that premise.

The business model is different from normal, but it's just a question of how you view it.
In reality, MC19 is not released until NOW. But you have been able to access incremental, development releases for a up to a year in advance.
MC20 won't be finalised until this time next year, but you can access its development releases by paying a reduced fee for a limited amount of time. I guess the reduced fee is the payoff for having early access to new features, may be a bit buggy, and not knowing precisely what features are going to be introduced and what changes are going to be made. It's a gamble you take, JRiver gets the cash up-front to support development. If you don't wish to buy into that business model then that's up to you, you can stay with MC19 for a year then upgrade to MC20 for the full price next year if you like its features.
