I don't like to extract DVD ISOs and have video_ts folders.
The fewer files, the less can go wrong (file corruption) and the less the OS
needs to index. Also moving one big file in your network is faster then
a lot of small files.

Technically it should make no difference because the ISO gets mounted
and then the disc content is seen from the OS in the same way except
its a video_ts folder on a virtual drive instead the HDD.

So how do i handle TV Show episodes on DVDs in JR?

Is there something like in MyMovies:

MyMovies gets the info from the DB.  But thats something i don't need.

Creating the Show/Episodes by hand and map them to discs/chapters is all I want.

The same applys to DVDs with extras like documentation of the film.

from what i understand it does not work with ISOs. But that would be the smallest problem.
And i don't see anywhere something about chapters - just timecode...
But it is not that i did not try something.
I already wrote about it in my other thread. I copy it from there:

I extracted a SpongeBob DVD and used "auto create particles" and
that gave me ifo file type entries (not vob).
The problem is that they stutter or play to fast and are not jump-able (video seekbar).
Its not a JR problem cause i checked it in MPC and there it also doesn't work if i open the
vob files there. If i open the whole DVD (video_ts) folder and select the episode from
the DVD menu then everything is ok.
I remember i recognized that before on some DVDs and has to do how the authoring is done.

If i use the video_ts folder in MPC i can jump to the title/chapters with "Navigate > Jump to > Title"
without problems.
Some DVDs are really a mess. 1 VOB is not automatically 1 episode.
They start in the middle of an episode, they have 2 and a half episode in the VOB...
I did not check how the "Masters of the Universe" is done where you have Orko's Fun Facts
about the episodes. Especially this DVDs are something where i want the menu and
no mkv.
Hey i live in the German city where Mattel made them (also Big Jim and Barbie),
so no way i destroy the menu *lol

I converted the Smurf DVDs to mkv cause the episodes are not in the right order and
the menu was nothing special i wanted to keep.
They have a "play all" in the menu and you can pick if you want the 1980s TV intro
on the episodes or the stupid new one.
So they did put two 2GB vobs on the DVD - all episodes merged together and one
for each intro.
The have every episode twice on there - for every intro one file.
But they also have just the two intros separated on the disc.

On the SpongeBob DVD the VOBs start somewhere, and as i said do not work individually.
Don't know if MakeMKV can handle that. Guess i need to check.

Ok, i did read the wiki again sentence by sentence. So it should work.
I try it later with another DVD but first i think some other thing needs to get fixed: path
My path is: "\\HECTOR\Hive\HT\TV Shows Anime\SpongeBob Schwammkopf\[2] Zeitreise (2006)\VIDEO_TS"
So i drag and drop the VIDEO_TS folder to JR.
The filename of this ifo that shows up is the then:
"\\HECTOR\Hive\HT\TV Shows Anime\SpongeBob Schwammkopf\[2] Zeitreise (2006)\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.dvd;1"

Now i do the auto particle thing and the filename stays and is the same for all titles.
And now the funny things.
The first time after this medical procedure (lol) i tried to play title1 what should be all episodes in one movie.
The player came up and there was loading the whole time.
I managed to close it and saw that the path was now:
"\\HECTOR\Hive\HT\TV Shows Anime\SpongeBob Schwammkopf\ (2006)\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.dvd;1"

I tried the whole procedure again but removed the [2] from my folder (sure did first remove the old stuff from JR).
This time i had stuff like "Title 1", "Title 2" and so on in the filename tag.
I thought ok maybe its by design and how stuff gets handled internally by JR.
But again loading forever after trying to play the file AND a nearly total freeze of my PC.
Brining up taskmanager with the keyboard did work but no chance to end JR cause
it was not possible to select anything with the mouse except switching in the taskbar.

Ok, i did a He-Man test and the videos play without stuttering.
I get "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe - Title 25" up to 52.
All have the path "\\HECTOR\Hive\HT\TV Shows Anime\He-Man and the Masters of the Universe\Season 2 (1984) [DVD]\Vol.1 - DVD1\VIDEO_TS\"
except Title 25 where "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe" is just "\\"

Also a question about ISOs. I read people use stuff like Virtual CloneDrive.
Since Windows does mount ISOs i don't use stuff like DaemonTools anymore.
1. If i select play an ISO in MC the DVD gets mounted and Windows explorer comes up.
2. If you stop the movie, the ISO does not get unmounted?

In xmbc there was never a need for a 3party software and the ISOs also get not mounted within Windows.

This is related to auto particles cause i see no reason why this should not work with ISOs.
If i to a "auto particles" then mount the ISO and let this function do in the same way what it does now
but from the mounted ISO instead from HDD.

Hi. I use virtual clone drive .. its just works no scripts no explorer pop-ups

Apologies in advance, but could you condense your posts a bit or put the questions in bold and elaborate on the details?  but I've spent some time looking into another of your posts on views which also is taking me some time to get what you want. I get a bit confused as you are often bringing in how external programs work, that I have no experience with (or haven't used for years).

Its probably not needed, but its simple and learning how to do it in windows would probably be hours of googling

Since Windows 8 natively supports mounting of ISO files, this kind of tool is not needed for Windows 8. In Windows 8, you can simply open an ISO file and Windows automatically assigns it a drive letter and reads it as a virtual drive.
