Raymond, re media scheduler
« on: February 07, 2002, 01:00:14 pm »

Oh, you've got me excited now.  I'm making up a wish list already!

Clarification:  How can I quickly get to "command shortcuts"?  The only way I can see is to go into Media Scheduler, right-click on one of my custom actions, select Edit, and then click on Command Shortcuts, and select my shortcut.  It would be ideal to have desktop shortcuts for these (I tried, but I can't find a way to do it).  Or even just to have the Command shortcuts somewhere in a drop down menu from the MediaJukebox Menu list.  That would be neat.

Also, it would be really neat if we could rename the custom tasks that show up under Action.  Right now they are all called "Start Custom Action", and I have to go into "edit" to see what each one is.

And I don't know if this is on purpose, but there are no "stop" times possible for custom actions.

Hey, you asked for it by showing me something new and nifty and 'awesome'!

Lise,
Glad that you like the new features. The "command shortcuts" were created to make adding a Custom Task much easier and it is only specific to Media Scheduler. It only fills in Program Path and Command Line information. But it is not a bad idea to actually have a shortcut that execute a task like those in the Media Scheduler's "command shortcuts" menu. We will think about it further.

I agree about the name. It will be changed in the coming version.

Yes, there is no stop time for custom task. I figure that there are some tasks that are improper to have a stop time like schedule to download multiple media files from a list file (.m3u) or from a website, depending on the connection speed and the server traffic I do not know when the task will be completed. So I leave the stop time open.

I've tried to have Media Scheduler start playing a file (in this case, an .m3u playlist) at a certain time, and then play a different .m3u at a later time. This doesn't seem to work. It starts playing the first one alright, but it just keeps on playing the first one instead of switching to the next one.

As a work around, I tried to schedule it to quit MJ a minute before the switch, and then start the next playlist a minute later, but there doesn't appear to be any command to exit MJ.

Am I missing something or is this not possible?

Doof,
It was something broken in Media Jukebox. Matt is on to it right now.
