Recently on a sync almost all my files where reported as not on device, unable to tag.
As I use Music/[album]/[Artist] for the path on the portable and have been editing the Artist tags, I can imagine this confused JRiver as the tags are changed.
However I expected in this case all files not recognized will be deleted from the handheld will be deleted. This is not the case as the transfer was far in excess of the capacity of the SD card.
This might indicate the sync is not working properly.
Took a deep breath:
- Changed the path to Music/[album] as this is a pretty stable tag
- Inside JRiver I selected all the files and removed them
- Got a message I don’t understand (see attachment)
- Recheck the sync, JRiver reports a 27 free after 32 GB transfer
- Started the sync
JRiver reports it is converting but the uploading is stuck at the first track.
When JRiver reported 300 hours remaining, I cancelled the sync.
Did recheck the sync.
JRiver reports Working but nothing happens.
After 5 minutes I decided to cancel.
Restarted JRiver
The handheld doesn’t show up in Devices (a refresh option forcing JRiver to rescan would be nice)
Disconnect/reconnect the handheld, restarted JRiver, now it sees the handheld
Did a sync, this time the upload works.
Problem might be related due to the handheld being locked (need to unlock it manual) but I don’t expect it to go in a locked state once connected.
3 hours later, the device is fully synced.
The conversion is completed but JRiver says it needs less than a minute to complete.
Wonder what it does. Don’t see much CPU or I/O
Restarted JRiver
This time everything looks fine excepts one track is In Queue and I haven’t touched the playlist.
Did a sync, another track pops up for In Queue
Did a sync again but this time JRiver reports the device as becoming full as it is about sync 25 Gb, almost all files..
All files are reported as being On Device.
Did a Recheck Sync
JRiver insist on the device being full
Closed JRiver and restarted
JRiver reports a 59 GB device with 28.4 free
This time I have another track In Queue
A resync and I get the 3 previous ones as In Queue
Did a Sync and MC20 crashes’ out
Restart, again a probably random track appears In Queue and JRiver reports device full.
Can’t say what exactly is wrong
Might be cockpit errors but at least on a resync file size is reported incorrectly
It looks like JRiver doesn’t delete tracks not in the playlist or doesn’t substract their size.
Hence it offers to discard tracks from the sync.
With a unchanged playlist, after a full sync still tracks are still In Queue
A repeated sync results in a device reported as full
