Any reason not to use W7 32bit?
« on: September 04, 2014, 09:27:47 am »

I want to set up an old computer that was originally built as a hackintosh then I set it up as an HTPC with Linux and XBMC. So it has never run Windows and I don't have a copy for it. Shopping around it looks like the 32 bit version is cheaper so I'm wondering if there is a reason not to use it? The computer is an older i7. I don't have it front of me and can't remember if it has a discrete video card. I will use it only as an MC20 client.

The license is universally compatible, you can buy a 32-bit license and install 64-bit with it. At least thats how it works with all the licenses I have.

There really is no good reason not to run 64-bit, tbh. :)

So I can install using the 64bit version I already own and just use the 32bit license key? That would be great.

As long as it is the same flavor of windows (Home Premium, Basic, Enterprise, OEM, etc) the license is the same for 64 or 32-bit.
