How to create a new mediasubtype
« on: September 04, 2014, 10:36:41 pm »

I need 2-3 new mediasubtypes and cannot find the option to create them. The fields in "Manage Library Field" are grey, I cannot edit.
Thanks

The Media Subtype list is fixed, and not user editable, sorry.

OR...use a subtype close to what you need...assuming you won't need to use it for it's true use...

This question comes up again and again :)

Why could not users be allowed to ADD stuff to this field? The built in values could at the top and none editable or replaceable. Even if a user used a custom value, and this value was decided to be added to JRiver official list of supported values, it would simply be locked in top with the rest of the non editable fields. Not messing up a single thing for any user.

I just use keywords to distinguish anything I want config flexibility over.

One of the beauties of MC is that devs regularly design in flexibility. May not be "ideal" but if it works - happy times..  ;)

Just today, when Importing and setting up the display for several Stand-Up Comedy albums I was quite surprised to not find a Comedy/Stand-Up sub type.  I had to use the Karaoke sub type instead, which seems silly since there are ones like Karaoke and many others yet this is absent.
