TV Tuner Card / Windows 8.1 / Australia?
« on: September 15, 2014, 01:28:52 am »

I'm after a PCIe or USB TV Tuner Card (preferably dual tuner) that works in Australia on Windows 8.1 with a high degree of reliability. Any and all advice is appreciated.

I've got 2 of these giving me 4 channels to play with:

Check on Interact, the SD network tuner is pretty widely used across the globe. I like it from the point of view that you're not stuck to 1 machine.

They were distributed via Kaiserbaas in Oz but it appears that that deal has fallen through. You can try JBs or Dicks but from a quick squiz, I did find them listed as in stock here:

Regardless of what you pick, make sure that you work with kit that works to DVB-T standard.

I'd suggest that you look here for setting up your EPG:

Nice bit of work that.

Much appreciated. I'd not even contemplated such a device. Is it possible to use the PVR functions with JRiver with this device? Or is it just for live TV?

Both.

With 4 video streams, I'd need 4 screens if I couldn't record.

I'm using a DigitalNow Quad DVB-T Receiver because I wanted everything in the one box. I note that they are currently unavailable with no ETA. That is a shame.

The network tuners do look like a great idea though, and I would consider using one if I needed to add another tuner, or wanted another PC to have direct access to a tuner.

As it is, my antenna outlet is right next to my HTPC anyway, hence the desire to put it all in one box and not have extra bits of hardware hanging about.
