I am inclined to agree with these benefits..

The only mystery for me is why is there no native support for Flac in any mainstream operating system? It is not naively in Windows, Apple, or Linux. And it is also not naively in DLNA either.

I agree it is a mystery why this is not supported naively in any operating system. Everything we use today is controlled by a computer be it a thermostat or your Car. Audio systems in all new cars are just a computer with a head unit attached. Why can't I playback a FLAC file in my car without converting the file first or attaching a media player is frustrating. This is why I proposed this question in the fist place.  My truck has a SD drive slot in the dash I can play WAV files, audio books etc. from it. But not FLAC files but I have a 39 dollar media player that will play FLAC files with no problem go figure.
