I like to do many crazy things with MC, but I can't see anything that I might've done to cause this. With ver. 20.0.17 all flac files I import get detected as Video/Home video, with the Compression field populated as "flac video (video: mjpeg, audio: flac)". So, err... ahem, flac video??

and while I've no idea if the new JRiver Video Engine might've influenced file handling/analyzing - there's a lot of video analyzing in there. At the same time I'm surprised that nobody else said anything so far, so it may just be me, but then again what can cause this? The files do have JPEG covers but just that, nothing MJPEG which is a very different thing. It did not matter if I convert to flac in MC or with a third party app, the import results were the same.

Appreciate any thoughts.

I tried with both FLACs with cover art and without, and I can't reproduce any problems. Its pretty much hardwired to use the FLAC input plugin for .flac files by default.
Did you change the FLAC assignment in Options -> File Types by any chance? It works perfectly for me on "Automatic".

Heh, well that does it indeed. I was thrown off because I checked but there were a number of entries not set to automatic (maybe from old times and setting got preserved?). At any rate, Automatic restored things to normal behavior. Thanks for looking into this.
