Crashes
« on: September 25, 2014, 09:39:18 am »

My MC20 crashes a LOT. I just registered here to see if more people have it but it seems not...

Any suggestions based upon the crash report below? (had to shorten it because they're too many characters for a message...

Anything in particular you were doing when this happened?

No, nothing special. Just starting MC20, playing a tune for a few minutes, then the music stops and I see that crash-screen with the data to be sent to Apple... MC20 is never on for more than a short while and then finally I use MC19 for the rest of the day.

PS could it be caused by MC19 also being still installed (if not active/started)?

Looks like one of the libraries we use wasn't compatible with OSX 10.7, i'm going to repackage it with compat down to 10.6, and we'll hopefully squash this one.

Wow thank you!

Yes, I use an old white Macbook with OSX 10.7.5 for music, a MacBook Air with 10.9.5 does all the other work.

Will you post the link to the patched version or will it upgrade by itself when I look for upgrades from within the program?

I see an MC icon appearing and disappearing briefly on the right side of the toolbar sometimes....
Maybe MC19...
My MC20 does not crash but stops playing in DLNA with my renderer.
Annoying....

The new version will be posted on this board near the top, where the existing thread for 20.0.14 already is.

I've been getting exactly the same problem under 10.7.5 for a variety of conditions - trying to load a lot of files into the library has been one scenario.

Thanks for offering to patch this so quickly as I've just bought JRiver and it's pretty darn good :)

Am I correct that a patch / solution has not yet been found?

We haven't gotten a new Mac build yet.  That doesn't mean they haven't fixed this internally, but there could be other issues blocking the release.

I am having the same problem.  I usually just let music play at night, when I wake up I see a crash report.  Running Yosemite on MacPro.

I find that the current version 20.0.29 works very well. I saw just two crashes over the past few days, and none today / yesterday whereas before, the program would only run very briefly.

Thanks!

Whenever posting requests for assistance with crashes, please follow the instructions here:
http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Troubleshooting_Guide

Many common causes for crashes are covered in the guide.  Once you've eliminated those as possibilities, then the section called Report the Issue has the information we need to help diagnose the crash.  In particular, we need the log package zip file created with the Report a Problem button in MC's Logging system, and it is much more useful and actionable if provided along with the other requested details (and confirmations that you've checked the "common cases").

The OSX crash details are also useful, but not without the other information, and the logs created by Media Center.
