Am I missing a setting, or is this just how it currently works?  When I watch a video with JRemote, it doesn't increase the play count in my library.  Videos that I have watched using JRemote still show in MC as never having been played.

Yes, sorry, but play count for videos are not currently updated, only audio.
Anyway, I`ll make sure video count is added in the next version.

BTW, audio files are only counted when you are 10 seconds from the end of the file. For video, this should probably be increased to 5 minutes or so.

Is the criteria for defining a play (e.g. reaching 10 sec from eof) configurable or is that hard coded from the web service?

I find the play count doesnt match reality. I tend to spend most of my time flipping through songs and they arent flagged as played. Instead, "total playtime > X seconds" (default 10) would be a much more meaningful indication of a song being "played" for me.

Yeah, that could be.
Looks like MC itself also count at the end though.

I can make this into a setting, where it`s counted either at start or end of track (10 seconds into, or before end).
Not sure if setting amount of seconds is worth it`s own setting though.
