Streaming Int. Radio showing as a video
« on: August 31, 2003, 07:54:37 pm »

I am trying to play:

mms://212.187.204.47/lq

as audio (it's streaming internet radio) but it is showing as wmv format and being treated as video.

Anyone know how to change this?  I've got media server set to covert to MP3 but I still get errors trying to listen to it via TiVo.

I have the same problem.

I posted a message about a month and a half ago complaining about this and I haven't seen a single reply.

I hate the fact that you pay for this software and then there seems to be no support whatsoever! >:(

I couldn't connect to this stream. Any other examples?

Hi curuxu,

The first will not even load. The third loads, but times out before playing anything, and the second is a real audio file (which cannot be converted to MP3 for the TiVo).

Hi Curuxu,

I'm not sure what problem you are having, but with asx streams, you'll need to switch them to audio before playing them on the TiVo. In Media Center with the stream highlighted, click on file properties the tag info, and change the Media Type field from video to audio (you may need to click on the tools/show all fields to see it).

Hi John,

Thanks for you help. I switched the stream to audio following your indications and now I can see them on my TIVO. However, they still won't play.

I think the problem is related to the MP3 converter. When I first checked the box "support all audio formats (convert to mp3 if necessary" in the options section of the media server it asked to donwload the LAME CONVERTER. It downloaded OK but it gave an error and asked to close Media Center. Do you know if there's a way to tell if the converter is working properly? If it isn't is there a fix for this?

Thanks again for all you help with this.

Hi curuxu,

sounds like your MP3 converter is not installed correctly. Try Tools->Plug In Manager in Media Center to reinstall the plug in.
