Unable to set up netflix account...

The authorization window shows up with a page cannot be found error while trying to set up my netflix account

Sorry to have to bump this, but I am still unable to set up my Netflix account... just before the error 404 page, MC complains about the link and suggests to download the latest version of MC, but I am of course on the latest version of MC, so I don't understand this message, Netflix works on the same system using chrome and IE is updated to the latest version...

If this is a location issue, can someone tell me where in MC can I go to set the Netflix URL manually?
I have Netflix working on my ATV2 without any modification, but if necessary I might need to point MC to netflix.be

Thanks

Set it in Tools > Options > Services.

View in Theater View.

If it doesn't work, try a browser to see if that works.

It probably only works in the U.S.

For my own case, so long as I can know how to make MC go to netflix.be I believe the issue should be resolved,

As stated, Netfilx works on the same system when using the chrome browser,

On the ATV2, I didn't have to do anything special, the client works right out the box...

In fact the link for Belgium is https://www2.netflix.com/?locale=en-BE

Is there a way I can set this up in manage links and let MC use this for accessing Netflix?

Thanks

I have been using the Win 8.1 metro app for Netflix without any issue...

I would like to know if this issue is going to be reviewed from an MC perspective or not...

Not having this working will be a deal breaker for the upgrade I have in mind...

This would be a lovely feature to have working now I am enjoying the WDM driver.

For the record, not working in the UK either.

When I go to Tools -> Options -> Manage Netflix Account -> Connect to Netflix Account, I get a small IE browser window that pops up with a HTTP 404 (not found) error.  Since I don't have Fiddler or something similar installed on this PC, I can't see what URL it's trying to go to.  I'm located in the USA and I can otherwise connect to the Netflix site from this PC without any issues, so I wouldn't expect to have a problem here.

I desperately need to have this working so I can ditch my ATV2...

I am already trying to get the metro Netflix app to be launched from inside xbmc...

The metro app works so fantastic... even the DD+ audio track is bit-streamed to my AVR... a major positive over the ATV2 which keeps downgrading audio to either DD or stereo...

On the flip side, MC throws xbmc into the garbage can when red October swings into action with SD movies...

Why oh why will this Netflix thing not work in MC...

I think I will be content with being able to launch the Netflix metro app from within MC, if I can get information on how to do it...

i run the Win8 verison of netflix until JRiver sort this out

create a shortcut to the metro app of netflix

To Create a "Metro Apps" Shortcut in Windows 8

1. Right click on Desktop, and click on New and Shortcut.

2. Copy and paste the location below, and press Enter.

%windir%\explorer.exe shell:::{4234d49b-0245-4df3-b780-3893943456e1}

3. Type in Metro Apps for a name, and press Enter.

To pin to taskbar just right-click > Pin to Taskbar or drag there.

Then run the shorcut from MC20 pointing the external programme button to your shortcut.

Thanks,

I will try this out later today and provide feedback,

BTW, the last part "Then run the shorcut from MC20 pointing the external programme button to your shortcut" is not very clear to me,
Can you elaborate a little?

Thanks once more

The shortcut uses explorer.exe to open the window which contains the Netflix app (and others as well)

I already had the Netflix pinned to task bar, but when I follow your instructions, I am unable to make the shortcut inside JR to point to Netflix...

Thanks

I just wish the Windows 8 Netflix app would either recognize a remote, or at least allow you to use keyboard commands to navigate.  I am stuck using the Windows Media Center Netflix for this...but at least I have it somewhat seamless now.

You can use QuickWMC to launch a shortcut straight to WMC Netflix, and then when you back out of it, it automatically closes.  That way if you use a remote, everything works.

Thanks to all for the suggestions and support...

I ended up cancelling my Netflix subscription (still on the one month free trial) today...

[rant] The best I can call the experience is " disgusting"... Netflix in Europe is a hilarious BS with all their international rules and regulations...

The Netflix client on all three Samsung smart TVs won't work...

The client on the ATV2 (jailbroken for Plex) worked until yesterday, first stopped working showing a HDCP error, and after some time stopped working completely...

The client on the Windows machine continued to work, but without support for remote control... c'mon... after so many years into the HTPC hobby... never going to control stuff on a 65 inch TV with a keyboard and mouse... I'm way past that stage...

Not ever going to invest in a new PS3 or any new hardware either just for the sake of using Netflix... I would rather continue to purchase disks as usual...

Since your SmartTVs don't work with Netflix - I'm not sure this would either - but I bought the Amazon FireTV box which includes Netflix app, and it works great (in US) with Netflix, Hulu, Prime, and others.
I just plug it into a spare HDMI port on my TV and use my universal remote to switch between JRiver and FireTV.
Maybe this would work for you too.
