Rate with half-stars?
« on: November 10, 2014, 01:41:58 pm »

I'm wondering if anyone has created an MC20 plugin that allows me to rate songs in half-star increments?

Thumbs up!

I need this feature too. It's so essential...

Some time ago, MC added a new data type called ten stars.  You can make a new library field and set it as Data type Integer and Edit type Ten Stars.  Then display that field anywhere you normally would use rating.  Boom, 10 stars available for ratings!

This worked well. Thanks!

I found this explanation from blgentry:

---

To do so, you need to go to the library fields manager in Tools > Options > Library & Folders > Manage Library Fields.  Then Add a new library field.  I would give it a name like "Rating10", or something that makes it obvious.  Under "edit type", you select Ten Stars, and Data type of Integer.  That should make the field work.

From there, you can display that field, simply by selecting it in any view from the columns.

----

It is easy to copy ones 5-star ratings onto the 10-star ratings afterwards and then give certain ratings a new number in the new system of 1 to 10. I projected all my former 5 stars songs to 9 stars, 4 stars to 7, 3 stars to 5, 2 stars to 3 and 1 stars to 1. Now I have options to granulate the ratings any further.

Hi,
It's also possible to set any number of stars with some syntax.

I don't remember how exactly but you can schearch in the forum.

With the syntax MC is very flexible!

is it possible to replace standard Rating field on the top of the screen of JRiver and in the Info view of JRemote to set the stars directly during playing a song. I hope you know what I mean, I want to see this 10 possible stars in JRemote, and not only a number.
